Does Smoking Salvia Extract Cause Long-Term Side Effects?

by admin on February 24, 2010

Smoking salvia divinorum extract is intense.   One hit and your mind and body will encounter an experience far surpassing almost any other substance known to man.  So the question came up recently: “If I smoke this high potency salvia will there be long-term side effects?”

So will smoking salvia divinorum extract have negative consequences some time down the line?  I decided to look into this a bit to see what I could find.  Although I didn’t find any conclusive results one way or the other, I did find some things to consider.

Unfortunately, there has not been extensive medical research in western culture.  However, there have been reports that abusers have suffered similar to those produced by other hallucinogens such as LSD.  Some of these effects include depression, schizophrenia, “flashbacks” (aka hallucinogen persisting perception disorder).

One thing to keep in mind is that these “abusers” seem to be the types that go way over-board with Salvia Divinorum.  It wouldn’t surprise me at all if smoking very potent salvia on a daily, or very consistent basis, did have negative effects.  Smoking Salvia 40x, or any potency for that matter, is not for everyone.

I personally have smoked Salvia 60x and I value the experience and appreciate the fact that I was able to embark on a journey through my mind that few others ever had.  That being said, I certainly wouldn’t want to do it on a daily, or even semi-regular basis.  However, someday in the future I may buy salvia 100x.

One thing is for sure…if you are one of the adventurous souls who want to experience this level of altered consciousness, make sure you buy quality extract from a reliable source for a reasonable price.

By the way, you can check out my salvia specials page for a price comparison of the best salvia prices I know of.
